Wilma Mae Ogilvie

Wilma Mae “Wilson” Ogilvie December 22, 1939 – June 1, 2017 Wilma came into this world on December 22, 1939, in Bakersfield, CA, and went home to the Lord on June 1, 2017 in Bakersfield, CA. She grew up in Twin Oaks, CA, where she attended school in a one-room school house along with her six other siblings. She attended Bakersfield High School where she was bussed daily from this small town known to most as Caliente, CA. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1958 and went straight into the work world upon her graduation. In 1961, she married her husband and best friend of 56 years, Gary Ogilvie. They met while out with friends one night at “Amestoy’s” located in the Basque district “downtown.” They dated for 6 months before marrying. They raised their 5 children in Tehachapi, CA. Wilma went back to school to become an elementary school teacher. She worked for Tehachapi Unified School District before relocating back home to Bakersfield. She worked for Bakersfield City School District as a special education teacher before retiring in 2003. Wilma’s faith and family were her number one priorities throughout her life. Above all else, she loved being mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She was loved for her caring heart, listening ear, and her unconditional love. Wilma loved doing puzzles, playing cards and family gatherings. Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, John and Roxie Wilson, and her brother, Joe Wilson. Wilma is survived by her husband, Gary Ogilvie, and their 5 children. Daughter, Tracy Price (Rick); Daughter, Allison Wood (Gary) and her grandchildren Cody, Austin, and Riley; Son Mark (Wendy) and her grandchildren Ashley Wahl (Ryan), Hannah, Lauren, and Samantha Ogilvie, along with her great-grandchildren, Corey and Wyatt Wahl; Daughter Jill; Son Paul (Shannan) and her grandchildren Shane Moore and Hunter Ogilvie, along with great-grandson Jaxton Moore; Sisters Wanda Maschmeyer and Linda Henderson; Brothers Roger, Wallace, and Willard Wilson. Brother-in-law Albert Pinheiro and Sisters-in-law Shirley Ogilvie and Joan Ogilvie. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Wilma’s selfless devotion was a gift to her family and loved ones. The seeds she has planted will run deep within our hearts and the memories we hold will be cherished forever. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give to an organization that you are passionate about.
