Danny Dwight Richards

Danny Dwight Richards, of Bakersfield, CA entered God’s kingdom on May 8 th, 2023. He was born March 28th,1945 to Alvin and Lorraine. Dan was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Sandra; sons Edward, Ronnie, Brian, Zane, and Noah; Daughter-in-laws Katherine, Christine, Ashley, Kori, and Brenna. Grandsons Wyatt, Mason, Preston, Derrick, and Triston. Granddaughters Mariah, Bree Ann, Rhyan, Bailey, Payton, Presley, Brooklyn, Fallon, Tea, and Bristol; Great Grandchildren; Traeson, and Ty Brothers Andrew, Arthur, Michael, and Robert. Upon Graduation from South High School in 1963, Dan went to Fresno State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. Dan was drafted by the US ARMY in 1969. He served in the Vietnam War from 1969 – 1971. During his tour, Dan received 3 bronze stars for heroism in combat, 2 purple hearts, the national defense service medal, Vietnam service medal, Combat infantryman badge, army commendation medal with republic of Vietnam, Campaign Medal with 60 device, and air medal. After Returning from the war Dan met and married the love of his life, the woman who would stand by his side through thick and thin, Sandra in 1972. Together, they raised 5 boys. Dan went on to work for Standard Oil Company in 1975 which would later become Chevron where he retired from in 2000. Dan had an inspiring love for the outdoors, and was an avid hunter, and fisherman. He passed that love and tradition to his children, and grandchildren, teaching them to respect nature and enjoy the outdoors. As a man of true integrity, Dan would never budge under any circumstances. He focused on providing his children the best life possible without worrying about himself. Dans Laughter was infectious. His sense of humor, and quick-whitted responses were a major staple of his personality. Dan was a truly great man whose impact will forever be felt by his family and friends who loved him dearly. Dans passing left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will forever be engrained in all he knew. Dans viewing will be held at Mission Family Mortuary Chapel on Monday May 22nd , 2023, from 3pm till 7pm. Services will be Tuesday May 23rd , 2023, from 10am till 11am at Mission Family Mortuary Chapel located at 531 California Ave. Bakersfield Ca, 93304. A very special thanks to Doctor Sukhninder Kaur Aurora, and the wonderful nurses at Hoffman Hospice for their wonderful care.
