William Curtis Cannon

May 29, 1938 - May 9, 2019

William “Chris” Cannon died Thursday morning, May 9 at the age of 80 after cardiac failure. Cannon is survived by his wife, June, of 63 years, two daughters, Teri Peters and Lisa Van Hoosier, brothers Craig, Roland and Bill Cannon, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both parents, oldest daughter Christy Cannon, and sister Mavis Jones. A United States Navy Veteran of 12 years, Cannon went on to work for Northrop Grumman Corporation and retired to his favorite camping and fishing location, Bodfish/Lake Isabella (where he was a member of the Property Owners Association for 22 years) after 22 years before moving to Bakersfield in August 2018. Born in Pitt County, N.C., on May 29, 1938, Cannon lived in many places including Hawaii and Oregon throughout his time in the military and work with Northrop before settling in California. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 20 at 1 p.m. at Bakersfield National Cemetery (223 E. Bear Mountain Blvd. Arvin, Calif. 93203). In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Hoffman Hospice House in Bakersfield.
