Anita C. Shepherd Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Shepherd, Anita C.- Viewing at Mission Funeral Home July 28, 1pm-5pm Memorial services will be held Friday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mission Funeral Home chapel for Anita C. Shepherd, 89, who went to be with the Lord on July 16 in Bakersfield. Chaplain Loron Hodge will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park’s Valley View lawn at 11:30 a.m. Anita was born December 14,1932 in Council Hill, Oklahoma. She had resided in Bakersfield for 67 years. She is retired from the Bakersfield City School District, where her final position was Administrative Secretary at the district office. Anita is survived by daughter Deborah Gardner and husband Ron; son Douglas Shepherd and wife Debbie and daughter Lisa Shrider and husband Joe; Sister Alice Goad, Brother Richard Blackwell & Sister Sarah Blackwell all residing in Oklahoma. Eight grandchildren and Twelve great-grandchildren. Anita was very strong in her faith and attended Valley Baptist Church for many years. She taught Sunday School and was involved with VBS and Awana’s in her early years. She continued to serve there for years planning luncheons for her Sunday school class as well as serving as her Sunday School Class secretary for many years. She was always keeping her Sunday School class informed of various activities. Anita's family would like to Thank all of those that took Special care of her during her final days of life, especially the thoughtful and caring staff at Hoffman Hospice. Heartfelt gratitude to Emma who provided the family support and went far beyond our expectations of care for Anita. Anita's Love of the Lord shined through her, in her walk of life.
