Julie Ann Absher

Like the sturdy trees of her heritage, Julie took root in the soil of family, steady, enduring, and deeply woven into the generations that came after her. She was born on February 7, 1958, and passed peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Bakersfield, California, surrounded by the legacy she helped create. Julie’s life was quiet but rich in the things she loved, art, poetry, and music. They were the languages through which she spoke her heart. Her drawings, words, and melodies carried the reflections of a woman who saw beauty in small details and meaning in the everyday rhythm of life. Though she was not one to wear her emotions openly, her strength and spirit ran deep, like the unseen roots of an old oak. From those roots grew a family she married Vietnam Army special forces veteran Larry Absher they had 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, and their legacy was created. Each carrying a part of her story, her resilience, and her quiet creativity. Julie believed in where we come from, in the ties of blood and soil, in the stories passed down at the table, and in the way generations take root and bloom. Her family tree stands tall because of her life, its branches reaching toward the future while its roots remain anchored in her love and legacy. She is the proud daughter of the late Elmer Dale Walker Captain of the Kern County Fire Department and Sharon Walker. She is survived by her 3 children: daughter Jennifer Ann Underwood, her husband Sean Underwood, daughter Stefanie Starr Absher, her husband Brandon Angell, and son Weston Leroy Absher and his wife Jessica Absher. Grandchildren: Arial Ann Richards and her husband Chris Richards, grandson Dilon Leroy Absher-Underwood, granddaughter Mazie-Lynn Grace Underwood, and granddaughter Alice Rose Absher. Great-grandchildren Troy David Richard and Genevieve Joslyne Richards Though her voice has fallen silent, her spirit lingers in the art she made, in the songs she loved, and in her words in her poems. The generations will continue to grow from the roots she left behind. She will be deeply missed we are grateful for the time we had! FALLEN LIMB A LIMB HAS FALLEN FROM THE FAMILY TREE. I KEEP HEARING A VOICE THAT SAYS, "GRIEVE NOT FOR ME". REMEMBER THE BEST TIMES, THE LAUGHTER, THE SONG. THE GOOD LIFE | LIVED WHILE I WAS STRONG. CONTINUE MY HERITAGE, I'M COUNTING ON YOU. KEEP SMILING AND SURELY THE SUN WILL SHINE THROUGH. MY MIND IS AT EASE, MY SOUL IS AT REST. REMEMBERING ALL, HOW I TRULY WAS BLESSED. CONTINUE TRADITIONS, NO MATTER HOW SMALL. GO ON WITH YOUR LIFE, DON'T WORRY ABOUT FALLS. I MISS YOU ALL DEARLY, SO KEEP UP YOUR CHIN- UNTIL THE DAY COMES WE'RE TOGETHER AGAIN.
