Hazel W. Neal

Hazel Lucille White Neal, 86, of Bakersfield, Ca. went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2016. She was born in Farmington, Georgia on June 17, 1930 to Hubert L. and Gladys Odessa Veale. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Rev. James Frank White Sr., her second husband, Jack P. Neal; her nephew, William Richard Veale, her sister-in-law Mildred Jean Veale and her brother-in-law, James Robert Wills. Hazel is survived by her Sister, Evelyn L. Wills of Williamston, NC, brother William L. Veale of Ft. Worth, TX ,children, James F. White, Jr. of Midway, Georgia; Cheryl R. Longwith (Gary) of Bakersfield, Ca.; David Keith White of Romoland, Ca.; her grandchildren Cynthia E. McInnis (Chris) of Bakersfield, Ca., Grandson, Gary A. Longwith (Andrea) of Long Beach, Ca., great grandchildren Kai A. Longwith of Long Beach, Ca.; great granddaughter, Samantha C. McInnis, of Bakersfield, Ca.;, two nieces and two nephews. Hazel grew up on the farm near Ty Ty, Georgia and knew how to put in a hard day’s work in the field. She led a simple life and never yearned for more than she needed. Her greatest passion in life was her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in whom she believed and trusted with all things in her life. She was secure in her belief and would share her beliefs with those around her often. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing his praises in church. Hazel stood beside her first husband and supported him in the ministry until his untimely death in 1971. Many years later she went on to find love again and married Jack P. Neal. She was an avid reader and had read through the bible numerous times during her life time. She loved the great outdoors and loved to garden. She was an accomplished seamstress and had also created many beautiful needlepoint items that will be treasured by her family for years to come. Hazel graduated from Sumner High School in 1948 and went on to attend business school, working as a secretary in various businesses. She met her future husband, James Frank White in Atlanta, Georgia and through her testimony of Jesus Christ he became a Christian and dedicated the rest of his life to serving Christ in the ministry. After marrying in December of 1952, she decided to stay home and become a full time wife and mother. Hazel was a loving mother whose love for her children knew no end. Her main concerns in life revolved around their well being and she will be missed dearly by all who knew her and loved her. Even though she lived the last 15 years of her life in Bakersfield, Ca. no services will be held locally. It was her desire to return to Georgia to be laid to rest beside her first husband, Rev. James F. White. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Rest Haven Garden of Memory located at 2284 Candler Rd, Decatur, GA 30032 at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Hazel’s memory to Alzheimer’s Disease Association of Kern County http://www.adakc.org under Donate/Volunteer/memorial donation or to the charity of your choice.
